Simple, compact, flow-through, high temperature high pressure cell for UV-Vis spectrophotometry

An optical pressure cell tested at pressures up to 1000 bar is presented. The cell has been used to collect UV-Vis spectra within the temperature range 20-400degreesC. The cell is compact, has low volume, and atypical high-pressure window seal. To test the performance of the cell the tetrahedral-octahedral equilibria in aquenous nickel chloride solutions were studied up to 400degreesC and 1000 bar. (C) 2004 American Institute of Physics.
