The role of titanium ions on structural, dielectric and optical properties of Li2O-MgO-B2O3 glass system

Li2O-MgO-B2O3 glasses containing different concentrations of TiO2 (ranging from 0 to 1.0 mol.%) were prepared. A number of studies namely dielectric properties (constant epsilon', loss tandelta and a.c. conductivity sigma(a).(c). as in the frequency 10(2_)10(5) Hz and in temperature range 30-300 degreesC), optical absorption, ESR, magnetic susceptibility, thermolummescence and infrared spectra were carried out on these glasses. Results have been analyzed in the light of different oxidation states of titanium ions in the glass matrix. (C) 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
