Hypervalent iodine-mediated vicinal syn diazidation:: Application to the total synthesis of (±)-dibromophakellstatin

[GRAPHICS] The total synthesis of (+/-)-dibromophakellstatin is described. The molecule is constructed from a key syn-diazide, formed by a hypervalent iodine-mediated diazidation of a dihydrodipyrrolopyrazinone ring structure.
