A quantitative investigation into the effects of reflectivity on the extraction efficiency of light-emitting diodes (LEDs) has been undertaken, and thus the relationship between the reflectivity of p-electrodes and the extraction efficiency of LEDs has been theoretically and experimentally investigated. When the reflectivity of p-electrode is changed from 44 to 84%, the light output of the LED is increased 1.8 times, which is consistent with the simulation results. The reflectivity of the p-electrode became more important in case where textured structures were in the LEDs. There has been plenty of random scattering on textured interfaces, and the texturing makes the p-side reflector more sensitive to the light output of the LEDs.
