Optimizing the ordering of tables with evolutionary computation

The rearrangement of the rows and the columns in a table can considerably increase the conciseness of a presentation. Despite this well-known fact no general principle has been proposed for the rearrangement of rows and columns. In this article the principles of evolutionary computation are applied in order to find suitable configurations.
