Macrostructures of Al-7mass%Si-0.35mass%Mg alloy were demonstrated to show the characteristics of plastic deformation in rotary-die equal-channel angular pressing. When the aspect ratio of a billet was as low as 2, the effect of its leading, end and tail on the deformation was large and the deformation was non-uniform. (C) 2004 Acta Materialia Inc.
