The spontaneous addition of triplet oxygen on dienol 1, yielding encloperoxide 2, was followed by EPR/spin trapping. The use of nitroso and nitrone spin traps allowed the detection of two radical centers, showing that this reaction could likely follow a radical pathway. (C) 2005 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
