Magnetization and specific heat measurements on the weak ferromagnet MnSi are reported. The magnetic field was applied along the [110] crystallographic direction. The temperature dependence of the magnetization at various fields was studied in the temperature range from 20 to 40 K. Results of specific heat vs. temperature at zero magnetic fields are presented. The specific heat shows an anomalous behavior around T-C. Bulk measurements have been compared with polarized neutron scattering data. We discuss the critical behavior of the magnetic fluctuations in the light of these results. (c) 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
