The essential oils from the leaves and roots of Asarum forbesii Maxim (Aristolochiaceae) were obtained by hydrodistillation and analysed by GC and GC-MS; 20 and 17 constituents were identified from the leaf and root oils, respectively. Methylisoeugenol (33.3%) and alpha-asarone (19.2%) were the main constituents in the leaf oil, while alpha-asarone (58.8%) and methyleugenol (10.3%) were the major constituents in the root oil.
