Enhanced photocatalytic activity of magnetic TiO2 photocatalyst by silver deposition

A kind of loaded photo-catalysts of Ag-TiO,/SiO,/Fe3O4 that can photo-degrade organic pollutants in the dispersion system effectively and be recycled easily by a magnetic force is reported in this paper. The synthesized products were characterized physically by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The photocatalytic degradation of orange II was evaluated by spectrophotometric analysis. The effect of Ag contents on the photocatalytic activity was investigated. The result shows 0.5% Ag TiO2/SiO2/Fe3O4 has the highest photocatalytic efficiency and its photocatalytic activity remained good even after three cycles. (c) 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
