The essential oil of Eryngium bungei Boiss. (Umbelliferae) collected from the suburb of Sari, north of Iran, in March 2001, was isolated by hydrodistillation and analyzed by means of GC and GC/MS. Sixteen constituents were identified in this oil. The major components of E. bungei oil were cumin alcohol (55.3%), terpinolene (14.6%), carvacrol (8.9%) and limonene (7.5%).
