The utility of beta-cyclodextrin incorporated carbon nanotubes-modified electrodes (beta-CD/CNT/E) for electrocatalytic oxidation of guanine in aqueous solution is demonstrated. Compared to the conventional electrode, it lowers the overpotential and enhances the peak current significantly. The action mechanism of beta-CD/CNT/E was discussed systemically. The results demonstrated that the use of beta-CD/CNT/E clearly provides an effective methodology for the determination of guanine. Based on the signal of guanine, an estimate of DNA concentration can be recognized with a limit of detection of 10 ng mL(-1).
