Convenient and facile cross-Aldol condensation catalyzed by molecular iodine:: An efficient synthesis of α,α′-bis(substituted-benzylidene) cycloalkanones

Cross-Aldol condensation of aromatic aldehydes with cyclic ketones in the presence of catalytic amount of iodine at room temperature afforded alpha,alpha '-bis(substituted-benzylidene) cycloalkanones in high yields. (c) 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
