Magnetic and orbital ordering in NdNiO3

Resonant soft X-ray Bragg diffraction is used to probe the magnetic and possible orbital ordering below the metal-insulator transition in the NdNiO3, Preliminary measurements, performed at the Ni L-2.3 edges. suggest the absence of orbital ordering at T-MI. The observed signal probes the magnetic ordering of the Ni and Nd moments. (c) 2006 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
