Copper oxide supported on large pore ordered mesoporous silicas with channel- and cage-like structures are obtained and characterized with N-2-physisorption, XRD, XPS and TPR with hydrogen. The state of copper species, their reductive properties and catalytic behaviour in ethyl acetate combustion are significantly influenced by the silicas pore architecture. (c) 2005 Elsevier B.V.
