We have investigated the axial buckling of multiwall nanotubes under the axial compression using nanomanipulation experiments and molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. Experimentally, Young's moduli of nanotubes with different inner hollow diameters for the same outer diameters are consistent with the Eulers buckling model based on the continuum analysis. The MD simulations for the buckling behavior of triple- and double-walled nanotubes are also consistent with the continuum analysis. This good agreement indicates that Enter's buckling model is applicable to the analysis of the axial buckling, behavior of the multiwall nanotubes.
