Ir/oxide/cellulose composites for catalytic purposes prepared by atomic layer deposition

Ir/FiO(2)/cellulose and Jr/Al2O3/cellulose composites have been prepared by atomic layer deposition of TiO2, Al2O3, and Ir on filter paper. Despite the aggressive conditions during Ir deposition, the cellulose fibers remain undamaged, which may be attributed to the protecting effect of the thin oxide layer. The Ir/TiO2/cellulose composites show enhanced photocatalytic activities as compared to TiO2/cellulose composites.
