New approaches to online bioprocess monitoring

An overview on microfluidic components and microanalysis systems enabling online monitoring of bioprocesses is given in this paper. The design and performance of a capillary electrophoresis microchip and a quartz crystal microbalance, which can be used for measurements of target analytes from a continuous sample flow, are described.
