catena-poly[[(2,2′-bipyridine-κ2N,N′)praseodymium(III)]-μ-dichloroacetate-1κ2O:O′:2κO-di-μ-dichloroacetato-κ4O:O′]

The title compound, [Pr(C2HCl2O2)(3)(C10H8N2)](n), was synthesized by reaction of praseodymium(III) dichloroacetate with 2,2'-bipyridine in a water-ethanol (1: 1) solution. There is a centre of symmetry at the mid-point of the Pr center dot center dot center dot Pr vector. The structure consists of chains running along the a axis. The Pr3+ ion is coordinated by seven O and two N atoms, giving a distorted monocapped square antiprism.
