A new coating method based on dissolution (the dissolving-coating method) was designed to prepare carbon black-coated electrically conductive polyester fibers. The effects of the composition of the coating mixture on the volume resistivity of the fibers were investigated. The mechanical properties and conductive permanence of the coated fibers were studied. The coated fibers prepared by the dissolving-coating method had the characteristics of lower volume resistivity (9.6 x 10(0) Omega cm) and permanent conductivity. (c) 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
