Performance of a Ho:YAG thin-disc laser pumped by a diode-pumped 1.9 μm thulium laser

The lasing performance of a Ho:YAG thin-disc laser pumped by a diode-pumped 1.9 mu m thulium laser was examined. A cw output power of 9.4 W was obtained, corresponding to a slope efficiency with respect to incident pump power of 40% and an optical-to-optical efficiency of 36%.
