Facile synthesis of high nuclearity silver-ferrocenyldiselenolate clusters

1,1'-Bis(trimethylsilylseleno)ferrocene has been used to prepare the silver-ferrocenyldiselenolate clusters Ag-8(Se(2)fc)(4)(PnPr(3))(4) 1 and Ag-16(Se(2)fc)(8)(PPh2Et)(6) 2 in good yield. The structures of the frameworks in 1 and 2 have been determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis.
