Unusual presentation of Plasmodium vivax malaria with severe thrombocytopenia and acute renal failure

Renal failure and uremic encephalopathy are rare findings in Plasmodium Vivax malaria. Thrombocytopenia is also an unusual manifestation of A vivax malaria. This report highlights the occurrence of these rare manifestations in an 8-year-old boy who presented to us with fever, rash and progressive deterioration of renal functions.
