This study determined the feasibility, reliability and validity of the 23-item PedsQL (TM) 4.0 Generic Core Scales Young Adult Version as a multidimensional measure of health-related quality of life. The study population consisted of 1273 students ages 18-25. The PedsQL (TM) (Physical, Emotional, Social, Work/School Functioning) Young Adult Version and SF-8 (TM) were self-administered. The PedsQL (TM) evidenced minimal missing responses, achieved excellent reliability for the Total Scale Score, acceptable reliability for subscale scores, distinguished between healthy young adults and young adults with chronic health conditions and was significantly correlated with the SF-8 (TM). The results demonstrate the measurement properties of the PedsQL (TM) Young Adult Version.
