A microcontact printing-based approach for realizing biosilica microstructures is reported, as well as biomineralised films exploiting the enzymatic activity of immobilized recombinant silicatein, by simply varying the biomineralisation time in precursor solution. The electrically-insulating properties of biomineralised films are demonstrated, for potential device applications.
