The chalcopyrite-like structure Of Cu(2)MSnQ(4) is an ordered tetrahedral array of flattened CuQ(4) and undistorted MQ(4) and SnQ(4), with a low lattice thermal conductivity. The [Cu2O4] tetrahedral layers are electrically conducting, and the [SnMQ(4)] layers are electrically insulating.
