In recent years, considerable interest has been focused on the development of novel surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) techniques. Previous studies have shown that the structure of a substrate is critical for taking advantage of strong Raman signal enhancement. This review summarizes the recent trends and developments of silver-based SERS substrates with various structures and their applications. (C) 2018 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
