Can MoS2 nanosheets be used as adsorbent for water treatment?

The utilization of MoS2, as a potential adsorbent in aqueous media; especially with nanosheet structures, has recently been of great interest. The rate of removal of pollutants from water by MoS2 nanosheets shows two different regimes, very fast and slow. The reason for observation of these two different kinetic behaviors is investigated in the present work by removal of different classes of dye molecules from water using nanostructured MoS2.Finally, the applicability of MoS2 nanosheets as adsorbent in aqueous media is evaluated and it was found that its utilization in aqueous media should be stopped due to its partial solubility.
