Complexes of guest-host type between C60 and group 9 metalloporphyrins

Half-sandwich iridium(III) and cobalt(III) porphyrin-C-60 co-crystals, C-60 center dot Ir-III(ttp)Ph and C-60 center dot Co-III(ttp)Ph/C7H8, and triangular-sandwich C-60 center dot 3Ir(III)(ttp)Ph, where ttp = tetra-p-tolylporphyrinato dianion, were synthesized. These complexes were structurally characterized by single crystal X-ray crystallography and featured C-60 locations near the metal atoms. The dynamic behaviour between Ir-III(ttp)Ph and C-60 in solution was examined by NMR spectroscopy.
