Present work explored the feasibility of using coffee waste based carbons for the removal of Cr(VI) ions from aqueous solution under different experimental conditions. Characteristics of active carbons resulted in maximum carbon yield and adsorption uptake. A narrow particle size distribution providing significant operating benefits through sonication has studied for fine-size dispersion of active carbons. Langmuir adsorption capacity was measured as 156.7 mg g(-1). Adsorption process was best obeyed with Freundlich and pseudo-second order models. Thermodynamic properties for the present system was found to be exothermic and spontaneous. The potentiality of carbon particles showed as an effective sorbent for Cr(VI) ions.
