A series of nanocomposites based on CdS nanomaterials and biomass-derived activated carbon (AC) were prepared and applied as viable photocatalysts toward the degradation of tetracycline (TC) antibiotics under visible light irradiation. It was found the morphology and CdS loading determined the photocatalytic ability of the composite materials. Of special notice, the f-CdS@AC-3 prepared from CdS nano fibers showed the highest photocatalytic efficiency in TC degradation. This study discovered an efficient pathway to achieve visible-light-driven photocatalysis with enhanced efficiency.
