This work describes a new technique, electroless plating deposition (EPD), to synthesize the Pt-based structured catalysts, in which the Pt active particles are directly grown on FeCrAl wire mesh substrate with robust adhesion and uniform dispersion. The as-synthesized catalysts with suitable Pt loading of 0.15-0.20wt.% and calcination temperature of 450 degrees C, reveal the best adhesion strength and highest catalytic activity in toluene complete oxidation reaction, which are attributed to an uniform point-shape distribution of platinum microparticles with certain spacing intervals on the surface of FeCrAl substrate. Such the point-shape distribution structure can improve the active sites to fully contact with the reactants, further promote the phase transformation of Pt-0/Pt2+ and O-la/O-ad, and finally maintain the normal operation of Pt-0-PtO synergetic mechanism during toluene oxidation reaction.
