Although carbon dioxide is considered a major pollutant and the main source of global warming, it remains the feedstock used by Nature to generate organic compounds. There is considerable interest in finding chemical processes that could generate industrially relevant carbon containing molecules, and replace fossil fuels as the feedstock. Frustrated Lewis pair technology or nucleophilic activation of CO2 have emerged as metal-free strategies to the catalytic reduction of carbon dioxide offering a green approach to fuels and feedstocks.
