A family of nanosized {Cu(6)Ln(12)} clusterswith a 'windmill'-like topology was prepared from the employment of 2,6-diacetylpyridine dioxime, in conjunction with bridging N-3(-), in 3d/4f-metal chemistry; the octadecanuclear compounds exhibit single-molecule magnetism behavior and large magnetic entropy changes, depending on the 4f-metal ion present.
