Chromium-Catalysed Asymmetric Dearomatization Addition Reactions of Bromomethylnaphthalenes

The asymmetric dearomatization and addition reaction of bromomethylnaphthalenes with aldehydes proceeded smoothly in the presence of carbazole-based bisoxazoline CrCl2 complex to give the corresponding enanioenriched hydroxylated dearomatization products. The excellent chemo-, regio-, diastereo- and enantioselecitivity are remarkable. Furthermore, hydrogenation of the product led to highly elaborated compound containing three contiguous stereogenic centers.
