Here, ultrathin nitrogen-doped carbon/graphene nano-sandwicheswere synthesized by carbonization of graphene oxide-based nanosheets, which were fully covered with ultrasmall ZIF-8 nanocrystals. The novel sandwich structure possesses large accessible surface area, excellent electrical conductivity, and high nitrogen content, thus showing superior desalination performance.
