Electrochemistry at the nanoscale with high sensitivity and spatial resolution underwent a rapid development in the last years. Combining optical methods with electrochemistry has strongly facilitated the acquisition of reaction signals. Here, we highlight the recent progress in electrochemistry on the interface of single nanoparticles based on dark-field microscopy and plasmon resonance scattering spectroscopy. Efforts to improve detection efficiency and sensitivity at the single-nanoparticle and single-molecule level are discussed.
