Microwave-assisted process intensification techniques

Microwave-assisted techniques are a powerful technique for process intensification. With the development of a more detailed knowledge of the mechanism of actuation of microwaves over different materials, microwave processes have evolved from an alternative heating method, to a technology with wide applications for the processing of natural compound, the synthesis of composite materials and nanomaterials, and the intensification of catalytic reactions. This article presents a short review of recent progress in the application of microwaves in these three key areas.
