Colloidal suspensions of nanoparticles in the size range of 1-100 nm in base fluids are known as nanofluids. The remarkable potential of nanofluids in heat transfer augmentation has been reported in many investigations conducted by researchers across the globe. Nanofluids attracted many researchers and the progress in this field has been tremendous due to their possible application in heat transfer devices. This paper intends to crystallize our understanding on the research carried on TiO2 nanofluid. TiO2 has gained great attention from researchers because of its interesting properties such as highly dispersive nature, remaining stable for long period, non-toxicity and ease of availability. Since the preparation of nanofluids is the preliminary requirement and physical properties play a critical role in determining their for future applications, we elaborate and discuss the recent research conducted on the preparation, and characterization of TiO2 nanofluids.
