Recently, the high concentrations of PM2.5 have frequently been observed in Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do, but the characteristics of PM2.5 are still not well known. In this study, we analyzed the mass concentrations and chemical compositions of the PM2.5 from May 2017 to May 2018. The average concentration of the PM2.5 was 25.8 mu g/m(3), and the mean concentrations of OC, SO42-, and NO3- were 5.6 mu g/m(3), 4.4 mu g/m(3), and 3.9 mu g/m(3), respectively. The PM2.5 was highly correlated with the OC, SO42-, and NO3-, NH4+, and K+ suggesting suggesting that biomass burning would be a main source of the PM2.5. During the high concentrations of the PM2.5, the fraction of the NO3(-) was increased remarkably while the fraction of the OC, SO42-, and metals was decreased. From the CPF model, it showed that the source of the PM(2.5 )would be originated from the west side of Jeonju. In addition, using the HYSPLIT backward trajectories, it showed that the air masses during the entire periods were originated mainly from Mongolia and China.
