In this study, we adopt a hydrothermal synthesis method to obtain nitrogen-doped porous carbon structure (NPC) catalysts. The prepared catalysts were characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) analysis. The nitrogen-doped carbon catalysts showed a particular morphology and outstanding thermal stability for acetylene hydrochlorination application. Determination of the catalytic activity performance was done based on the experimental condition of the acetylene weight hourly space velocity of the feeding gas being set at 1.7 mL min(-1) g(-1) at 180 degrees C. The results showed that the nanoflower-like morphology rich in N content and the N species have a positive impact on acetylene conversion activity.
