Objectives: To investigate the influence of a number of controlled modes on the spec tropholometric analysis of the colour of resin composite and porcelain materials. Meth ads: A total of 20 samples of commercially available resin composite, and 20 samples of connwrcially available porcelain materials in four different shades NOW produced (five samples for each shade). Colour 14 was measured using a spectrophotometer (CM2E-100 d. Minolta Konica) set il.fith different colour measuring modes namely, small aperture size (SAO or large aperture size (MAV); specular component included (SCI). or excluded (SCH: 0% (UV) or 100% Oil Ahinunalian (11VD. Colour data then compared using paired Hest. Results: Colour coordinates measured e'ifh spectra photometric modes set as 2 observation anpie. SA V, SCI, and VI New significantly different from those measured :aid h 10' observation angle. MAV, SOT, and UV respectively in most cases for both materials. Conclusion; Different spectropholometric modes (2 or 10 degrees obser vation angle. SAV or MAV aperture size, 0% or 100% OV and SC/ or SOD significantly influenced the absolute colour measurements of resin composite and porcelain Safipies. Clinical significance: Measuring modes should be taken into consideration ,zhen comparing the results of absolute colour measurements of resin composite and dental porcelain materials.
