A range of indolizines and H-phosphonates smoothly underwent Mn(OAc)(3)-mediated C-H phosphonylation procedure to afford the phosphorylated indolizines in good to excellent yields with high regioselectivities. Mechanistic studies have been conducted to clarify the radical pathway.
