By using a low-cost, ternary AlCl3/LiCl/KCl inorganic molten salt as the electrolyte, an aluminumion battery is able to work stably below 100 degrees C. When intergrated with a graphite paper cathode, the battery exhibits close performance and similar electrochemical transformations to inorganic electrolyte-based batteries operating at >= 120 degrees C.
