ZnFe2O4@g-C3N4 nanocomposites: An efficient catalyst for Fenton-like photodegradation of environmentally pollutant Rhodamine B

ZnFe2O4@g-C3N4 nanocomposites were successfully synthesized by following a template free chemical co-precipitation method and morphology observation clearly confirms the intimate contact between ZnFe2O4 and g-C3N4 phases. The photocatalytic activities were evaluated in terms of photo-Fenton discoloration towards Rhodamine B in presence of H2O2 under visible light irradiation. The as-prepared 10% ZnFe2O4@g-C3N4 nanocomposites showed remarkable photocatalytic activity with highest degradation rate of 0.09 min(-1), which is almost 9 times higher than that of pure ZnFe2O4. Interestingly, ZnFe2O4@g-C3N4 nanocomposites exhibited a good recyclability without losing apparent photocatalytic activity after fifth successive runs, thus becoming a promising candidate for treatment of non-biodegradable organic pollutants in water.
