Nowadays, the proportion of renewable energy resources is increasing. Taiwan will install a large amount of offshore wind power capacity in the west coast in the future. To deal with the uncertainties and changes from wind generation, this work focuses on the unit commitment in Taiwan's possible high wind penetration scenarios. This work has developed a unit commitment model, which considers hourly spinning reserve capacity that covers the uncertainty on wind power and load uncertainty as well as N-1 safety criteria.
