An overall water splitting device assembled using a photothermal effect coupled Ni-W-B/carbon cloth electrode could deliver a current density of 25 mA cm(-2) at an ultralow cell voltage of 1.524 V without heating the whole system, which is comparable to its performance at elevated cell temperature of 50 degrees C.
