Structural and Magnetic Properties of Scandium and Indium Doped Magnesium Ferrite Nanoparticles

Magnesium nanoferrites substituted with Scandium and Indium are synthesized by Sol-Gel auto combustion method having generic formula MgScxFe2-xO4 (x=0.05, 0.1, 0.15) and MgInxFe2-xO4 (x=0.05, 0.1, 0.15). Structural studies are carried out using X-Ray diffraction (XRD) and Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM). The XRD pattern provides information about single phase formation of spinel structure with cubic symmetry and used to calculate grain size and lattice constant. TEM micrographs provide information that the nanoparticles are nearly spherical in shape. The M-H loop has been traced by using Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM) and magnetic parameters such as Saturation Magnetization (M-s), Coercivity (H-c), and Retentivity (M-r) are obtained using VSM data. Mossbauer analysis is also taken to verify the magnetic nature of ferrite.
