In this paper, we propose a new algorithm to construct three-dimensional microstructure of coal rock, and also use Lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) to simulate the procedure of coal bed methane migrating. Firstly, an algorithm of randomly packing-sphere and pore-growing, combining with quartet structure generation set (QSGS) algorithm, is proposed to construct three-dimensional microstructure of coal-rock. Secondly, based on the constructed model, single-phase migrating procedure of coal bed methane is simulated using lattice Boltzmann method. Lastly, the permeability is calculated, and the influence of porosity and the width of the pore are analyzed. Our experimental results show that our proposed method can efficiently represent coal-rock's microstructure and the behavior of coal bed methane migrating intuitively.
