A new Cd(II) compound, namely [Cd-2(btc)(phen)(2)Cl](n) center dot n(H2O) center dot n(DMA) (1, H(3)btc = 1, 3, 5-benzenetricarboxylic acid, phen = 1,10-phenanthroline, DMA = N,N'-dimethylacetamide) has been synthesized and structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. This compound crystallizes in monoclinic P2(1)/n space group with a = 13.5729(7) angstrom, b = 20.1049(7) angstrom, c = 13.9450(6) angstrom, beta = 104.671(4)degrees, Z = 4. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that compound 1 features a 2D -> 3D interdigitated framework directed by the intermolecular hydrogen bonds. In addition, the luminescent properties of compound 1 were also investigated in the solid state at room temperature. (C) 2017 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
